Phasing out of our role as a provider of direct services

In 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created a new rule in order to eliminate the perceived conflict of interest that exists when a single agency, such as a county board of DD, is both a provider of services AND a coordinator of services, often referred to as support administration or case management. This rule impacts adult services, employment services and transportation services provided by a county board of DD. Ohio has been granted a 10-year period to become fully compliant with this federal rule.

You can learn more about this CMS rule and other policy initiatives influencing change in Ohio’s DD system HERE.
