Phasing out of our role as a provider of direct services

In 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) created a new rule in order to eliminate the perceived conflict of interest that exists when a single agency, such as a county board of DD, is both a provider of services AND a coordinator of services, often referred to as support administration or case management. This rule impacts adult services, employment services and transportation services provided by a county board of DD. Ohio has been granted a 10-year period to become fully compliant with this federal rule.

You can learn more about this CMS rule and other policy initiatives influencing change in Ohio’s DD system HERE.

The Cuyahoga County Board of DD created a transition timeline (below) to plan for phasing out of its role as a provider of adult, employment and transportation services by 2020.
