Universal Changing Tables Grant

Cuyahoga DD will offer a second round of funding for the Universal Changing Tables Grant. The grant is for the purchase and installation of a universal changing table.

Who may apply?

  • Cuyahoga County-based nonprofit or government organizations
  • Provider agencies for adults with DD

Why are universal changing tables important?

Universal changing tables are underprovided in our county.

Universal changing tables in public settings improve the quality of life for people with self-care needs like diaper changing, colostomy requirements, and catheter maintenance.

Without access to these tables, many adults and youths with disabilities cannot meet their basic needs in the community.

“Many people with disabilities cannot use a public restroom, even if a large toilet stall with grab bars is available,” said Janet Keeler, director of Community Development. “More universal changing tables will increase inclusion for more people in Cuyahoga County,”

About 15% of Cuyahoga County's population is disabled. Most have issues with walking, cognition, and living independently, according to the latest U.S. Census.

Grants are funded by Cuyahoga DD’s local levy funds.
