Cleveland Metroparks Try-It: Adaptive Kayaking
Directions: Program meets at the Wallace Lake North Quarry Picnic Area. Ages: 8 years & over (Minors between the ages of 8-17 MUST have a participating adult) Fee: $5 per person (All guests MUST register) Terrain/Distance: Less than 2 miles in a flatwater environment. Have you always wanted to try kayaking? Now’s your chance to try-it under the guidance of certified instructors. Experience kayaking during this short try-it session where playing games and touring the lake will be the focus. Adaptations and staff support are available for this course specifically designed for people with disabilities (including but not limited to physical, cognitive, sensory, visual impairments, and hearing impairments). The entire program will be spent outside, so all guests should come dressed to paddle. Dress in non-cotton layers such as synthetic materials, fleece, wool, etc. Please bring a completed waiver and review the equipment list. Classes will begin promptly, so plan to arrive early. One caregiver per person will be permitted to participate alongside the individual with a disability at no additional cost. Boat Capacity & Size: Kayaks are more unstable when individuals are at or near the capacity of the equipment.
